Mustard Foods took on Dawsongroup temperature control solutions in a charity cricket match at the end of August; the result was irrelevant, it was all about a good day out for a great cause.
Dawsongroup temperature control solutions (DGTCS), who have a close working relationship with Mustard, travelled to Wimbledon to play the match and raise money for The British Heart Foundation as well as other charities.
While Mustard Foods chose City Harvest, a non-profit organisation that delivers our over-yielded products to 150 organisations in and around London, DGTCS supported Team Elsie, a charity for a young girl called Elsie who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type II, and the BHF.
Issued a challenge when DGTCS project development managers Tim Clark and Adam Wheatcroft met with Mustard Food’s facilities manager Adrian McCaffrey during a visit to our HQs, the stakes of the cricket match were simple: the losing team would donate £250 to the winning teams chosen charity.
DGTCS won the toss and elected to field first with Mustard scoring 166 runs. This had the opposition running scared with DGTCS’s Adam Wheatcroft declaring it was “looking like Mustard Foods is going to win.”
However, after a welcome barbeque DGTCS headed into bat and scored 167 to win the match thanks in part to Ryan Cape, who was declared the ‘best batter of the match.’
The day was a success with DGTCS’ charities, Elsie Katie Novell and BHF, coming out the big winners while as always we will continue to work closely with City Harvest with weekly food deliveries.
We at Mustard Foods are ready for the rematch!
