8 Restaurants in UK lose Michelin stars - Full Deletion List

Feb 14, 2025Nikita Singh

Six out of eight restaurants who lost Michelin stars have closed down.

Michelin Guide announced their guide for Great Britain and Ireland 2025, adding one new three-star restaurant, three new two stars, and 22 new one stars to this year’s list

Unfortunately, eight restaurants lost their Michelin star status.

2025 Michelin star deletions:

  • City Social, London

  • Kai, London

  • Locanda Locatelli, London (closed)

  • Purnell's, Birmingham (closed)

  • Store, Stoke Holy Cross (closed)

  • Pollen Street Social, London (closed)

  • Cornerstone, London (closed)

  • Wild Honey Inn, Lisdoonvarna (closed)

Six out of eight Michelin-starred restaurants on the deletion list shut down, and it provides insight on the
challenges facing the UK hospitality industry at large.

The sad truth is that no matter how good the food is, a restaurant can’t survive without strict labour cost management. With National Insurance contributions set to rise in April, along with a host of other business taxes, even Michelin-starred restaurants can’t afford to waste skilled labour on staff meals.

Restaurants need to update and streamline operations, like outsourcing staff food from a high quality supplier, or using a comprehensive procurement system, in order to survive a highly competitive hospitality industry fraught with new economic challenges in 2025.
